Intent

The purpose of the Owlet baby monitor capability is to provide continuous monitoring of a baby’s vital signs while they sleep. This capability ensures that parents are promptly informed of any issues, allowing for quick intervention if necessary.

Preconditions

  • Owlet baby monitor device must be set up and connected to the home network.
  • Home Assistant must be installed and configured to integrate with the Owlet monitor.
  • User must have access to the Home Assistant interface.
  • Home Assistant installed and configured.
  • Integration available and authenticated: Zigbee2MQTT.

Trigger

Workflow Description

1. Initialize Monitoring

The Owlet monitor begins tracking the baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels as soon as the baby is placed in the crib.

2. Data Transmission

Real-time data is sent to the Home Assistant setup, where it can be accessed by the parents via their devices.

3. Detect Changes

The system continuously checks the vital signs for any irregularities that fall outside of safe parameters.

4. Send Alerts

If a change is detected, the system sends an immediate notification to the parents’ mobile devices.

5. Review Status

Parents can review the baby’s current status and historical data through the Home Assistant interface.

Postconditions
