Workflow Description

1. Monitor Battery Levels

Home Assistant continuously checks the battery levels of connected devices at regular intervals.

2. Evaluate Battery Status

When a device’s battery level drops below the set threshold, the system evaluates if notification settings are enabled.

3. Send Notification

If notifications are enabled, Home Assistant sends an alert to the resident’s preferred communication method (e.g., mobile app, email).

4. Resident Receives Alert

The homeowner or family member receives the low battery alert and can take action accordingly.

5. Replace or Recharge Battery

The resident checks the device and replaces or recharges the battery to ensure continued operation.

Postconditions

After the alert is sent, the resident is informed about the low battery status, allowing them to address the issue promptly.

Optional Enhancements

  • Integrate with voice assistants to announce battery alerts audibly.
  • Add a history log of past low battery alerts for better tracking.
  • Enable multi-device notifications for households with numerous battery-operated devices.
