Description
iBlinds are retrofit motorized blind kits that attach to existing horizontal blinds, adding smart home control without replacing the entire window treatment. The v3 models use Z-Wave technology to integrate with smart home hubs, enabling automated shade control based on time, sunlight, or temperature. These motors are designed for DIY installation and work with most standard 2-inch horizontal blinds.
Overview
My Implementation
Installed iBlinds v3 motors on six south-facing bedroom windows, integrated via Z-Wave JS into Home Assistant. Automations close blinds when indoor temperature exceeds 76 degrees during summer afternoons, and open them in winter mornings to capture passive solar heat. Battery life averages 10-12 months with daily automated cycles.
