Description
Reolink video surveillance systems combine PoE IP cameras with dedicated NVR recorders or standalone camera operation for comprehensive property monitoring without monthly subscription fees. Cameras feature 5MP to 4K resolution with AI-powered person and vehicle detection, color night vision, two-way audio on select models, and local storage eliminating cloud dependency. The RLN16-410 NVR supports up to 16 cameras with pre-installed hard drive for continuous recording, while individual cameras can operate independently with SD card storage or NAS integration.
Overview
My Implementation
Deployed eight RLC-510A cameras covering all exterior doors, driveway, backyard, and side yard perimeters. Connected via Cat6 PoE to Netgear PoE switch eliminating individual power adapters. Recording to Synology NAS via RTSP instead of dedicated NVR for centralized storage management. Integrated with Home Assistant using native Reolink integration for motion-triggered automations that illuminate exterior lights, send rich notifications with snapshot images, and log events to persistent database. AI person detection reduces false alerts from animals and weather.
